My Biography:
Mark’s career in music began with the guitar in 1982. He taught himself theory and technique using both the Aaron Shearer and Berklee guitar methods. In 1999, Mark decided to pursue a degree in Music Education.
Upon graduating from Seton Hill University in 2003, Mark accepted a position in Sterling, Virginia with Loudoun County Public Schools. He FullSizeRenderwas appointed director of the guitar department at River Bend Middle School in Sterling, Virginia. Within two years he built the program to well over 225 seventh and eighth grade guitar students. In the same year, Mark began to pursue his Master’s Degree in Music Education. He received his degree from George Mason University in 2005.
In 2005, Mark was recognized by then Virginia Governor, Mark Warner, for Teaching Excellence. The award was presented to Mark during a teaching session as a surprise. In his seven years at River Bend Middle School Mark was awarded Teacher of the Year twice and was runner up another two times. In 2010, Mark moved up to the high school level directing the guitar program at Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia.
On June 6, 2013 Mark received the Inaugural Seton Hill University Excellence in Teaching Award for the Fine Arts. The award was created to recognize those alumni working in the field of education who demonstrate outstanding achievement in their field and who are an inspiration to their students.

grammyslideOn May 4, 2015 Mark was notified that he was in the quarterfinals for the Recording Academy and Grammy Foundation’s Music Educator of the Year Award. This prestigeous award is
Mark owns and operates Musicians-inc, a music performance studio located in Sterling, Virginia. Musicians-inc is an outgrowth of Mark’s love of learning, teaching, and performing. Mark also directs youth bands in the YouthFest Music Festival located in Northern Virginia’s Loudoun County. The annual event features a headliner and is active four months out of the year with Battle of Bands events leading up the the June Festival.
Mark is involved in multiple music collaborations with musicians from around the world and is seeking an outlet for his own music and for studio work as a session guitarist.
